WHO WE ARE | WHY WE DO IT
Welcome to Kingfisher FM—your voice of Christ hope in Nelson Mandela Bay and beyond! Who is Kingfisher FM? From the Station to the Nations – Kingfisher FM is a Christian radio station with a mandate to make God’s Word accessible to everyone, everywhere, at any time. As Christian Media we have a calling to share the anointed message of the Gospel of faith through the medium of radio and this we do in a way that’s relevant, engaging, transformational and life changing. We do this for Christ. We do this for YOU.
OUR STORY
Let’s take you back to 1994, when a passionate group of Jesus followers had a big vision and calling: to start a Christian radio station that could bring Christs hope and the Gospel to their community.
It wasn’t an easy road—they had to prove to the broadcasting authorities that Nelson Mandela Bay needed this station. So, they rolled up their sleeves, went door to door collecting signatures, held marches, and organized public events. Their hard work paid off, and that’s how Kingfisher FM was born!
OUR MISSION
At Kingfisher FM, we’re all about being a Christ-centered radio station. We love partnering with local churches to see God’s Kingdom grow in Nelson Mandela Bay. Our main mission? To walk in obedience to Jesus and spread His message of hope and salvation.
The beauty of radio is that it goes where the people are—homes, hospitals, cars, shopping centers and even streamed on cell phones while folks are working or unwinding. We aim to reach places that pastors and missionaries often can’t.
Our heart beats for the BAY. We’re here to share relevant, authentic content that uplifts, equips, and encourages. We support the local Nelson Mandela Bay & Surrounds business community, entrepreneurs with a you grow, we grow the community grows attitude.
We are a voice of hope to everyone tuning in.

OUR VISION
In a nutshell, we’re a nonprofit Christian community radio station with a big vision. Our content is designed for both believers and those still exploring faith. Everything we do is built on Biblical values and a Christian worldview.
While our main audience is in the NMB area, we also reach places like Patensie, Jeffrey’s Bay, ADDO and Sunday’s River Valley. Thanks to internet streaming, you can listen to Kingfisher FM from anywhere in the world! You’ll also find us connecting with our audience through our website, blogs, and active social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram and of course via WhatsApp.
OUR FAITH
Kingfisher FM is a Christian radio station with a mandate to make God’s Word accessible to everyone, everywhere, at any time. We strive to share the message of faith in a way that’s relevant, engaging and life changing.
HERE’S WHAT WE BELIEVE
- One God, Three Persons: We believe in one God who exists in three forms – the Father, the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit.
- The Bible is Our Guide: We see the Bible as divinely inspired, totally reliable, and the ultimate authority in all matters of faith and how we live our lives.
- Jesus Christ: We believe Jesus is God in human form. He was born to a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, fulfilled prophecies and died on a cross to atone for our sins.
- Jesus’ Resurrection and Return: We believe Jesus rose from the dead, will return to realize God’s Kingdom, and that God will judge the world.
- Human Sin and Separation from God: We believe everyone has sinned and is therefore separated from God and under His judgment.
- Redemption Through Jesus: We believe that we can only be saved from sin through Jesus’ death and resurrection.
- The Holy Spirit’s Role: We believe the Holy Spirit makes Jesus’ sacrifice effective for individuals, bringing them to repentance and faith, helping believers live holy lives and share their faith.
- Resurrection and Eternal Destiny: We believe in the resurrection of the saints – eternal life for believers and eternal punishment for non-believers.
- Unity in the Body of Christ: We believe that every believer is part of the Body of Christ through the Holy Spirit and should maintain unity by loving one another sincerely.
- The Church: We believe the Christian church has existed since Jesus was on earth and will continue until He returns.

Why Radio?
Radio doesn’t discriminate, is accessible to everyone, regardless of background, social status, or location. For me, radio is a tool to impact hearts and minds with the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Why Jesus?
I chose Him, but He chose me first (John 15:16). By His grace, He opened my eyes to truth and a love beyond understanding. I’m grateful for the gift of salvation and the privilege of knowing Him personally. Because of Jesus, I’m no longer bound by fear, shame, or sin—I live in the freedom He gives.

Why Radio?
It’s the kind of media everyone can access freely worldwide! It might possibly be the only Gospel many people are able to access, a friend and companion to the lonely. I’m humbled and grateful that God uses even little old me to place the perfect song in the perfect place in order for Him to do something amazing in someone’s heart.
Why Jesus?
No matter where we are in our walk with Jesus, He is and will always be our constant one, faithful one, an anchor for our souls when the storms of life push and pull. The only way, truth and life.

With radio, reaches millions for free! 24/7, no matter where you go, radio is always there for you. Kingfisher is faith filled, you can feel the warmness,
the love and the Spirit of the Lord which is probably very rare in other places.

Because he is my confidant, because without him there would be no reason for me to live, he saves me in places I never knew I could be saved from. When I cry out his name he answers and he sees me.

Why do you love radio?
Radio connects hearts in real time. I love that I can share encouragement, joy, and faith with someone right where they are and receive the same in return from listeners in their car, home, or workplace. At the end of the day we can all have a place of connection, outlet for authenticity and vulnerability, and the ability to find a community to be strengthened by God’s word as iron sharpens iron!
